First day of the year
start it with bang ... hmm

At 7:50 I walked on from lodge road towards river itchen expecting something beautiful , even thought of taking a camera .. I really feel .. why haven't I taken one .

I didn't look at temperature before venturing out .. after I turned from Hulse road I felt the chill , walked on lodge road .. but by the time I reached Tesco I thought I should turn back as I was unable to bear the cold .. no matter what I thought I have to reach the river itchen .

Came to a junction where I dunno which direction to proceed, I walked on a road which looked like a pavement,strangely it was called the lawn road  . I had to cross the main road for a bridge . There were the first sights of river itchen . The bridge was called Horse shoe bride , which I later realised when I saw it in the maps that it looks like one. Unfortunately the bridge was poorly maintained and it's just over rail route.

At the end of the horseshoe bridge overlooking the river itchen was this private property with lot of motor boats . It has this heading "cctv in operation" that means that may be it's some rich guy who wants to sail .  I later realised that looks more like a enterprise .

As I moved to priory road which is parallel to river itchen there was a place from which I thought in the begining where we could watch the river itchen . But it turned out to be  a place where people can come park their trucks /pickups and launch their boats into the river. Unfortunately the river itchen of which I thought to be beautiful was not what it looked like. It's a bad sight with all the boats stuck up in sludge . I could even see some boats almost in the middle of river stuck . It felt like something in scenery, dead or motionless with all those boats stuck up . That was pretty horrible I couldn't stand it longer as the cold & the view made me leave.

My plan was to cross the river itchen from st deny's bridge, so I continued on priory road which houses the people who have parking on the river itchen bank ! Looked like some rich people who left this place for america .. hmm I thought so cause the houses are not bad but the street is not well maintained that shows that the residents are long gone .Almost all the boats which were parked beside the houses of priory road were not usable atleast at this period of year when there is not enough water.

I walked till I reached the st denys road where I turned to cobden bridge which goes towards bitterne region . I saw some old people crossing the bridge . river itchen seems better now ,as there is some greenery in the place . I saw two girls sitting on the grass which was strange enough as it's morning 8:30 AM of january 1st , they were shouting .. like crazy .

The boats at this place were better looks like some could sail .. some were still stuck in mud but there are some good boats. I also saw a boat converted to house.I walked on st denys road to see the church wich was pretty big it reminded me of winchester . It also has a primary school opposite to it . I sat on the seat opposite to the church and turned back to see the primary school which has history of more thaan 150 years wow ..  I went back to portswood via police station road. I came back home to see that the temperature was 0 degrees .. wow .. good time to start a year !!
